How to play Bowldle

Bowldle is a free daily bowling game. Once a day everyone gets the same lane, with the same oil pattern and the same challenge. You bowl one full game of ten frames, then compare scores with friends.

Bowl today's lane

Controls

  1. Line up. Drag the ball left or right along the foul line.
  2. Set your hook. The Hook slider sets spin. Left hooks the ball to the left, right hooks it to the right, and the middle rolls straight.
  3. Roll. Swipe up. The angle of your swipe aims the ball, and a faster flick throws it harder (about 9 to 22 mph).

On a computer, the arrow keys move the ball, [ and ] change the hook, and the space bar rolls a straight ball.

Reading the lane

Real bowling lanes are coated with oil, and Bowldle works the same way. Your ball skids through the oil, then grips and hooks when it reaches the dry wood near the pins. Each day's lane tells you three things in the top-left corner:

The six patterns are House Shot, Short Fuse, Sport Shot, Long Haul, Dry Lanes and Flood. Use your first frame or two to learn the day's lane, then adjust.

Tips for more strikes

Daily challenge, streaks and badges

Every day has a bonus challenge, such as picking up three spares or finishing without a gutter ball. Bowling the daily keeps your streak alive, and streak freezes protect it if you miss a day. You also earn XP toward new balls and badges like Turkey (three strikes in a row) and 200 Club.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bowldle free?

Yes. The daily game and practice mode are free to play in any browser, with no download or account.

Does everyone get the same lane?

Yes. The lane conditions and the daily challenge are the same for every player on a given day, so scores are directly comparable.

When does a new lane come out?

A new lane unlocks every day at midnight in your local time.

Can I play more than once a day?

The daily game counts once. Practice mode gives you unlimited games on random lanes that don't affect your streak or stats.

Is a perfect 300 game possible?

Yes, with twelve strikes in a row. It takes a consistent hook into the pocket and a little luck, just like on a real lane.

How is my score calculated?

Bowldle uses standard ten-pin scoring. See how bowling scoring works and try the free score calculator.
